How many of us are guilty of pushing our kids out of the kitchen while we were cooking? *Hand Raised*
Well, it is time to invite them back in! I used to joke that my son needed to know how to cook so his wife wouldn't have to do all the cooking!
But then I stumbled across some startling research that convinced me that my kids really do need to know how to cook! For example, 60% of college students can't make salad dressing...ok that's acceptable I guess...
But 1 in 3 college students can't boil an egg...say what?? Mental note - teach the kids to boil an egg before college!
But in all seriousness, I am a busy working mom and it can be challenging to find engaging time with the kids. The evenings are the only real time we get together during the week, so I like to make the most of it.
Having the kids in the kitchen doesn't mean they are preparing the entire dinner. Sometimes they stay the whole way through, but sometimes they just peel some carrots and run along. And that's ok!
But the time spent in the kitchen is important. We talk about why certain foods are better for you than others and we discuss different recipe ideas.
But it's also the time that the kids will tell me a little bit about their day (it may be an accident...I don't know for sure). So it's a win-win for all of us!
So follow along, and invite your kids into the kitchen with you! We will show you how!
