Clean Eating Holiday Recipes
For the last few years, we have really worked hard to stick to Clean Eating compliant foods and recipes. If you are new to clean eating, take comfort in knowing that it gets easier and starts to become fairly routine after a while. Foods like white bread, sugar and processed foods start to taste different and you will be able to feel the effects of these foods after you eat them.
That being said, we do really well until the holidays roll around! With all the parties and school events, it becomes very difficult to stay on track! In addition to the hectic schedule, something about the holidays brings me back to my childhood and all I want to do is eat (and drink!) the holiday dishes I grew up on. That is why I am always on the look out for clean eating holiday recipes.
Start New Traditions
I can be very sentimental when it comes to family traditions. Especially now that we often spend the holidays away from our families. I find myself trying to pass down traditions to my children and this includes sharing family recipes. The thing is that we have gotten away from processed foods, so some of the traditional recipes don’t taste the same.
I’ve started adjusting family recipes to make them clean eating compliant and we’ve actually enjoyed the new dishes. I keep a copy of the family (or traditional) recipe so I can hand it down to my kids, but we are also starting new traditions by using the healthier recipe. My kids help me cook, so I like to believe that these will become their family traditions.
